Project Wasteless has published a new guide focusing on sustainable eating habits and waste-free cooking. The guide, called Wasteless meal prep, provides easy-to-apply tips to help cooking more consciously, to use leftovers creatively, and to develop environmentally friendly routines in everyday life. Those who are interested could also participate in a free webinar to deepen their knowledge and further discuss their thoughts with the Project’s colleagues. The publication of the guide is also promoted through social media, where the followers are invited to enter a giveaway.

Food waste is a major environmental, economic, and social challenge: in Hungarian households, an average of 62 kg of food per person ends up in waste every year, big ratio of which could be avoided. Home-cooked meals account for the largest share of food waste, at 11,8 kg/person/year. The aim of the Wasteless meal prep guide is to approach this problem from a practical perspective – offering simple, but effective solutions for everyone.

By planning and preparing your menu ahead, you not only save time, energy, and money, but it is also one of the most effective ways to prevent food waste. The Wasteless meal prep is also a manual that shows how to plan your weekly menu, use up leftovers and ingredients with a close use-by date, and what to take attention to if you want to store and freeze your food safely.

This guide can help you plan your meals more consciously and reduce food waste with easy-to-use and practical ideas. One of the key messages of this publication is that just a few small changes can make a significant difference in our environment, our wallets, and our sustainable future.

The Wasteless meal prep guide is available here in Hungarian.
