The 2024 edition of the European week for waste reduction

The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is the largest Europe-wide initiative promoting awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week.

The 2024 edition, which will run from 16 to 24 November, places significant emphasis on food waste, a pressing issue that affects environmental sustainability across Europe. EWWR has decided to join forces to change the way we produce, consume, and distribute food. Through actions and inspiring initiatives, coordinators and the entire EWWR community are committed to guiding local and public authorities, private companies, associations, schools, and citizens to rethink their relationship with food and raise awareness of the environmental, economic, and social impact of food waste.

On the thematic focus page, participants will find inspiration on circular solutions to prevent food waste, ideas for workshops promoting food waste reduction, suggestions for apps to help combat food waste, and good practices for building a sustainable food system, among others. Additionally, EWWR factsheets are available in various languages to help participants shape their actions.

Registration for EWWR 2024 is now officially open until 6 November. While the main focus is on food waste prevention, participants can register any action aimed at raising awareness about waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and clean-up activities.

Don’t wait any longer! Join the EWWR community and fight against food waste.
