Trash Food Waste! This was the subject of our poster design competition announced this spring, which, for the first time, allowed adults to submit their creations alongside primary and secondary school students.
As part of the competition, we sought posters that clearly, visually or even humorously depict the issue of food waste, its consequences and emphasize the role consumers play in prevention. Submissions were accepted in four categories – two primary school groups, one secondary school group and one adult group – and could be created using any technique, such as pencils, paints, crayons, charcoal, pastels or mixed media. Participants could also submit works created using digital drawing programs (e.g. Procreate), but the use of artificial intelligence was not permitted.
The popularity of the competition is well demonstrated by the fact that 285 entries were received by the end of the submission period. In addition to the public voting on the Project Wasteless Facebook page, the jury also selected their favorites from the submitted posters.
We also awarded Implom József Primary School in Gyula for being the most active school, from which 23 students submitted their entries.
Several works were awarded special prizes and additional special awards were given with the support of Nébih, Electrolux and Játéksziget.
