We are very proud that Project Wasteless by Nébih has been rewarded with 1st place in the Hungarian awards for the 2024 European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) in the “Public Administration and Authority” category! Our nearly decade-long program dedicated to fighting food waste has also been nominated by the Ministry of Energy for the international competition, where it will be Hungary’s sole representative in the public administration category.
During the European Week for Waste Reduction, we aimed to bring the topic of food waste to various age groups and communities through as many communication channels as possible. Our programs included online events and in-person activities, engaging different age groups from preschool children to the adult population.
Our goal was to widely promote the prevention of food waste and inspire people toward more sustainable lifestyles through professional collaborations, educational activities, and comprehensive communication campaigns.
The waste hierarchy model adapted from the perspective of Project Wasteless was at the center of our communication, which effectively illustrated the steps for preventing and managing food waste. This approach allowed us to communicate the importance of sustainability in a clear and impactful way.
Our Key Activities Included:
- Interactive workshops for children
- An intensive online campaign, complemented by a giveaway
- “Cook wasteless!” webinar
- Encouraging households to participate in our food waste survey
- Professional collaboration with MiReHu Nonprofit Ltd.
Through our social media campaigns, webinar, and school workshops, we reached a total of 19,400 people online and engaged 368 children in person.
At Project Wasteless, we remain committed to spreading the message that food is valuable, and it is everyone’s responsibility to appreciate and preserve it. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
