Which habits should be targeted for food waste reduction? – New research in the field

The research team of the Wasteless programme published a study which aimed to explore behavioural patterns behind household food waste with partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The results show that the main reason for food wastage is consumer habit in field of food handling and preparation, which underlines the importance of childhood education and awareness raising to shape routines and behavioural patterns with proper messages and impulses.

The research was co-funded by European Union’s LIFE Programme. The results have been published in the Environmental Science and Pollution Research journal.
