Conference on Food Waste

Conference on food waste was held on the first day of the National Agriculture and Food Exhibition and Fair on the 20th of September, organized by the Food chain-supervisory department of the Ministry of Agriculture. Great interest was shown towards the conference, since approximately one hundred visitors attended the event, where they had the opportunity to watch 7 presentations focusing on the topic of food waste.

 

Firstly, Dr. Gyula Kasza (NFCSO) introduced their Program Wasteless, followed by Anna Zoltai’s presentation about food waste in the catering sector. On behalf of the Ministry of the Agriculture, Dr. Marót Hibbey gave a lecture on the utilization of previous foods for feeding. Also from the NFCSO, Dr. Blanka Szilvássy gave a presentation about the relationship between packaging materials and food waste.

 

The second part of the lecture series was opened by Zoltán Gazsi regarding the opportunities of food waste reduction in the production sector. Balázs Cseh, president of the Hungarian Food Bank Association presented about delivering the food surplus to the people in need. The closing lecture was held by the National Trade Association with the title of ‘Good practices in food trade’.
